the Carbon Trail

[ OVERVIEW ]

Walking tour coming soon…

Beginning at the site of Manchester’s first coal-powered steam mill, The Carbon Trail weaves through the city’s industrial past and low-carbon future, exploring the good, the bad and the ugly of our carbon story.

The route concludes at the National Trust viaduct: a former steam railway transformed into thriving green space — from a carbon-emitting revolution to carbon-absorbing nature.

Delivered in collaboration with The Carbon Literacy Project, this tour counts as half a day of recognised Carbon Literacy training.

Add our optional half-day classroom workshop to complete the full day required for certification (subject to meeting the assessment criteria).

Ask us how to become certified as Carbon Literate through this unique city-based programme.
