• Our tours are designed for both first-time visitors to Manchester and people who already know the city. Whether you’re new here or have lived in Manchester all your life, you’ll discover stories and details you may never have come across before.

We share the history of the city… sometimes inspiring, sometimes less than ethical… while uncovering surprising facts and hidden places.

Along the way, you’ll see historical photos and maps that help us retrace the footsteps of the many generations who shaped Manchester.

  • Our tours are carefully researched and designed around a clear theme or story, not just a mix of random landmarks. Each one follows a narrative thread that connects places, people and events, showing how the city has evolved over time. They typically last around two hours… long enough to cover a good stretch of the city, but not so long that it drags.

We use historical photos, maps and first-hand accounts to bring Manchester’s past to life, retracing the streets, industries and movements that shaped the city’s character.

And unlike “free” tours, there’s no awkward tipping or sales pitch at the end… just a straightforward, fairly priced experience led by someone who genuinely knows and loves the city.

  • We’re a relatively new tour company and are adding routes as we grow, each exploring different key parts of Manchester’s history and character.

Tour dates, times, and meeting points may vary, so the best way to find out what’s coming up is to check our calendar or list of tours. You’ll find all the latest details there, and we’ll keep adding new walks over time as we uncover more stories to share.

  • Each tour starts in a different place, and you’ll find the meeting point listed in the description on the tour’s page… here are some links to help you find yours:

    • The Medieval Quarter: meeting place

    • Castlefield & Deansgate: coming soon

    • Piccadilly: coming soon

  • Yes… we currently limit each tour to around 20 people to make sure everyone can hear clearly and see the materials we share along the way. If tours start to fill up, we’ll add extra dates, so please subscribe to updates or follow us on Instagram or Facebook for announcements about new tour times.

  • Yes… you’re welcome to turn up on the day (paying with either a credit or debit card, or cash), but there’s a chance the tour may already be full. We try to keep things relaxed and can often fit in a few extra people if space allows, but to be sure of a place it’s best to book in advance.

  • Yes… tours go ahead in most weather conditions, so please dress appropriately and come prepared. Manchester’s weather can change quickly, so a good coat, umbrella or sensible shoes are always a safe bet. If extreme conditions make it unsafe to run a tour, we’ll contact everyone booked and offer an alternative date or refund.

  • No… we don’t offer free tours. While some Manchester tours operate on a “pay-what-you-feel” basis, that model often puts pressure on guests to tip at the end, and we’d rather keep things clear and comfortable for everyone.

Our tours are professionally led and take time to research, prepare and deliver.

The ticket price helps cover our time, insurance, materials and other costs, and ensures we can keep offering high-quality tours that are properly run and fairly paid.

  • Yes… private tours can be arranged for groups of 10 people or more. These can follow one of our existing routes or be tailored to suit a particular interest, theme or area for an additional planning fee.

Private bookings are ideal for workplaces, community groups, universities or visiting delegations. To discuss dates, pricing and options, just get in touch and we’ll be happy to help plan something that fits your group.

  • Yes… all tours are covered by public liability insurance up to £2 million. While we take care to keep everyone safe throughout the walk, guests join at their own risk and are responsible for taking care of their own personal safety and belongings during the tour.

  • We aim to make our tours as accessible as possible, though some routes pass through older streets, uneven surfaces, and areas with steps or narrow pavements.

If you have any specific access requirements, please get in touch before booking and we’ll do our best to advise or adjust where we can. We’re continually refining our routes to improve accessibility and will note any known limitations on each tour page.

  • Yes… please go to our merchandise page for more details.
